Stories from tables around the world
This is an example of an Italian salad made with leafy greens, tomatoes, mozzarella, and an olive oil dressing.
Origin and food culture
Italian salads use many different approaches rather than one fixed recipe, drawing on local and seasonal vegetables. The combination of tomato and mozzarella can also be seen in Caprese from Campania in southern Italy. However, today’s Italian salad is not being identified as a traditional Caprese. This booth menu is a tentative sample inspired by those ingredients, and the actual dressing and toppings will follow the on-site preparation.
What is it usually eaten with?
Such salads are eaten as a starter or side dish. They can also be served with bread or a main course, but that is separate from today’s menu. Eating tomato and cheese together lets you compare the freshness of vegetables with the softness of dairy. Bread or other foods are only general meal examples and are not part of today’s offering.
