Stories from tables around the world

This menu lets you enjoy crispy chips made from processed coconut flesh together with coconut water.

Origin and food culture

Coconut is a widely used ingredient in Thai food and drinks. Coconut milk, made from the flesh, is used in curries and desserts. Coconut chips are the snack form chosen for this event. The clear liquid inside a coconut is coconut water. It is different from coconut milk, both in where it comes from and how it is made. In Thai cuisine, coconut milk is used in curries and desserts, while the flesh is also enjoyed in many snacks.

What is it usually eaten with?

Coconut milk is used in Thai curry and sweet snacks, but it is different from the coconut water served here. Chips can also be eaten on their own as a snack. Dried or roasted chips are enjoyed as a separate snack, while coconut water is drunk as a beverage. You can compare how the same fruit changes in texture and in the way it is consumed.
